Call for abstracts & applications for participation “Performing Space – 2022 Epidaurus”, August 27th – September 2nd, Nafplio, Peloponnese, Greece

The Department of Theatre Studies of the School of Fine Arts of the University of the Peloponnese will host every year, in Nafplion, Greece, the International Conference and Workshop “Performing Space”, starting from the summer of 2022.
The International Conference and Workshop “Performing Space” is co-organized by the University of Peloponnese and the Technical University of Madrid (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid). Partner universities: Università degli Studi di RomaTre, Universidad de Granada, Nottingham Trent University.
The International Conference, organized as part of the Performing Space 2022, will take place on 27 and 28 August 2022 in Nafplion and is hybrid (in-person and online participation). The conference aims to connect performance and space studies and welcomes proposals from artists/practitioners and researchers from all academic disciplines, who want to share their work on performance and space and develop their reflection on the built environment from a performative perspective. The last day of the Conference will close with a round table consisting of experts in the subject and some conclusions.

The International Performing Workshop Epidaurus 2022 will focus on the Asklepeion of Epidaurus as a case study and welcomes applications from participants who want to explore through performance such a significant place with the tools provided by the different disciplines that study the relation between performance and space. The workshop is divided into two phases: the first phase involves attendance of the Conference (27-28/8/2022) and the second (29/8-2/9/2022) involves participation in the workshop, which will take place in the teaching buildings of the Department of Theatre Studies in Nafplion (theoretical courses) and in the Asklepeion of Epidaurus and the surrounding area (practical courses). Participants in the Workshop will be invited to develop a proposal for a new circular tour of the archaeological site, which will be presented by various means.

Please send to info@performingspace.org a short CV and an application form, stating the reasons why you wish to participate in the workshop (up to 300 words).
Fees: 200 €
The amount includes transportation and a daily meal during the Workshop, while accommodation is not included.
The official language of the Conference and the Workshop is English.
