The European Journal of Theatre and Performance (EJTP) is pleased to announce that the Journal will be moving from publishing one to two issues per year. This move marks an important step in the growth of EJTP and is inspired by the Journal’s intention to offer authors the possibility to submit high-quality scholarly articles on a continual basis. Thus, from the fifth issue onwards, EJTP will start to alternate between a general Essays Section, for which contributions can be submitted freely, and a themed Essays Section, for which a Call for Papers on a specific theme will be issued, as EJTP has done so far.
EJTP has been created in 2018 together with the founding of the European Association for Study of Theatre and Performance (EASTAP). EJTP aims to stimulate a close dialogue between theory and practice, and between theatre and performance scholars and artists across Europe and beyond. Starting from the local, it wants to question the global and to promote boundary-crossing, taking in consideration European backgrounds and the variety of methodologies and theoretical approaches to the adjacent fields of theatre, performance, and dance studies, both from historical and contemporary perspectives.
For our next issue’s first general Essays Section, EJTP is currently welcoming submissions of min. 6.000 and max. 9.000 words. Prospective authors are kindly requested to familiarize themselves with the profile and aims of EJTP at the journal webpage. Articles should be sent to Timmy De Laet at timmy.delaet@uantwerpen.beand Pieter Verstraete at p.m.g.verstraete@rug.nl. Please review the Submission Guidelines here to make sure your submission is in accordance with the Journal Style Guide.
Submissions to EJTP must be based on original, unpublished work not under consideration for publication elsewhere. EJTP is open to publishing articles in languages other than English, but please note that in these cases authors will be asked to secure professional proofreading. Submitted articles will undergo a double-blind peer-review process by min. two anonymous experts.
