The Festival Archive NRW at TMD Theatermuseum Hofgartenhaus Düsseldorf
In fall 2023 work began on assembling and conceptualising a new archive within the collection of TMD Theatermuseum Hofgartenhaus Düsseldorf. The Festival Archive NRW is meant to preserve the rich history of festivals in the region of North Rhine Westphalia and to function as a hub for research into said history and the concept festival from a broader perspective. Our presentation will provide a brief overview of the festival landscape in our region with its over 30 performing arts festivals (not including dance festivals). It will further introduce attendees to the holdings of the archive and our conceptual thoughts on developing them further. With that we’d also like to discuss new documentary strategies to add audience and behind the scenes perspectives to the materials available through the archive.
